Smoke Prints
A fresh, intercultural remix of the Surrealist “fumage” technique, this series of “Smoke Prints” or “Incense Smoke Monoprints” are an ongoing series that depict various people, phrases and abstract elements. Overall these fall into the category of “Remembrances” to address a type of fleeting temporality. All artworks are made with incense smoke oil on mirror, on marble and on paper using a custom “fumage” technique adapted from the surrealists such as Wolfgang Paalen and mixed with traditional Chinese spiritual practices.
