Peace Movements (Borderline Mudras)
This project involves developing physical movements, gestures and actions that embody the various antipodes of conflict/resolution and violence/nonviolence. Starting with Chinese Kung Fu as a basis for movement Hoover works with a group of martial artists, dancers, performance artists and the public to co-develop new hybrid movement forms. The culmination of this project consists of a large-scale outdoor interactive video mapping projection and live performance based off the workshops and installations developed during a 10-week studio residency at SafeHouse for the Arts and at 41 Ross Alley in Chinatown. The work premiered s a projectio on the facade of the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco for the opening reception of Untitled Art Fair. 2017
