It’s All A Blur examines levels of empowerment and enfranchisement in the American West and the current status of the American dream. This full color exhibition catalog focuses on three artists Guillermo Gòmez-Peña, Dale Hoyt and Tony Labat Bay Area masters whose work embodies the hybrid cultural identities and political activism of Bay Area life and creative expression.
It’s All A Blur is published by SOMArts Cultural Center and accompanies the exhibition by the same name, curated by Justin Hoover. It’s All A Bur features writing by artist Guillermo Gòmez-Peña, SOMArts Curator and Gallery Director Justin Hoover, artist Dale Hoyt, art historian Amelia Jones, writer Niki Korth, SOMArts Executive Director Lex Leifheit, and writer Sandip Roy.
It’s All A Blur features newly commissioned and never-before-seen installations, videos, drawings, and performances. Blur examines how action, inaction, peace, war, subject, object, authentic and inauthentic have become increasingly blurred today.
Catalog design is by Dan McKinley, and photography is courtesy of the artists, and Bryan and Vita Hewitt Photography.
